SUMMARY: Volunteers will work closely with the College Success Foundation (CSF) team to enhance the academic success of all students by supporting students and assisting during CSF events.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support assigned CSF Staff Member with a variety of tasks that include but are not limited to: Setup and/or clean-up, checking-in guests, serving food and answering basic questions.
  • Support CSF staff in event coordination and completion of event related tasks.
  • Coordinate college planning activities with other CSF staff assigned to the high school, school staff and other college access providers.
  • Work with CSF staff to assist in the assessment of student needs for special assistance, such as tutors, to enhance the academic success of all students at the high school. For instance, providing suggestions and input on improving student academic performance and college readiness.
  • Assist and partner with CSF Staff Members on the completion of student applications (resumes, scholarships, essays, college applications).
  • Attend events.
  • Perform other light duties as assigned.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Commitment to work collaboratively and harmoniously with all CSF staff, colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Organizing, performing, and prioritizing multiple tasks with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong problem solving, decision-making and people skills.
  • Required to complete 2 hours of Abuse Training, 1 hour of COVID training and attend Volunteer Orientation
  • Volunteers are required to comply with CSF's COVID policy. Unvaccinated volunteers must provide a negative COVID test result. Masks are required in the workplace for individuals who have just had or been exposed to COVID. Volunteers are free to wear masks while volunteering. We recognize that there are many reasons that volunteers may choose to continue to mask. No volunteer will have to justify or explain their choice, and all staff and volunteers are expected to respect their colleagues, regardless of their masking choice.
  • All volunteers, regardless of vaccination status, must self-screen before arriving at an event. Any volunteers that feel unwell, show any symptoms of COVID-19, will not be allowed to participate in volunteer activities.
  • Must have reliable transportation.


ADDITIONAL REQUIRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Completed Drug Screening.
  • Completed Background Check.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:

  • Knowledge of communities served by the high school where services are delivered, and recent effective involvement with students in that school and communities.
  • Experience in fields related to mentoring, leadership development, youth development, education, teaching or counseling.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and age groups.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a volunteer to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. Accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Volunteers will need to frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The ability to communicate information and ideas so others understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information. Volunteers may need to stand or walk around for prolonged periods of time. Volunteers may also be required to operate a computer or other office machinery.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is generally conducted in a school environment or event space with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues. The work environment is moderately quiet. Volunteers must be able to be flexible and able to interact with students and employees at all levels.
