Volunteer Program Specialist: This 0.6FTE/Part-time position is scheduled to work 3 8-HR shifts per week.

Compensation: Non-exempt, $29.48/HR-$42.44/HR

Job Summary:

The Volunteer Program Specialist is responsible for all administrative aspects of the Volunteer Program, special events, and provides additional support to the volunteers of Mason Health. The Volunteer Program Specialist supports 50+ volunteers placed within a variety of departments at Mason Health. This position is responsible for program innovation and development and is accountable for increasing the number of volunteers recruited and placed in various positions throughout Mason Health.

This position has the potential to grow in tandem with the proven and demonstrated growth of the volunteer workforce and program.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate the volunteer program to meet the needs and activities of hospital departments.
  2. Work with department leaders, managers, and supervisors to define the roles of volunteers.
  3. Plan and carry out a volunteer recruitment program; interview, screen, and place volunteers. 4. Plan and conduct orientation and continual training for volunteer program participants.
  4. Collaborate with Mason Health’s Marketing team to increase exposure of the volunteer program to the public and actively participate in community outreach, recruitment and lead generation efforts.
  5. Provide information on the volunteer program, lecture, and attend seminars in the community; work with the community social agencies; encourage volunteers to provide information on the volunteer program with their own communities.
  6. Assist the Mason General Hospital Foundation with their volunteer recruitment efforts.
  7. Develop objectives, policies, procedures, and job descriptions for all volunteer positions. 9. Supervise the volunteer program participants and arrange for substitutes when needed. Performance manage and conduct feedback conversations as needed and schedule and review the work regularly.
  8. Develop mentorship relationships with volunteer program participants and support them in their career growth.
  9. Develop evaluation criteria and evaluate program participants incorporating input from department heads.
  10. Manage and maintain the volunteer database, including collection and recording of all volunteer hours worked.
  11. Prepare the monthly newsletter and coordinate special events for volunteer program participants.
  12. Work collaboratively within the Development Office Department and with teams across Mason Health to fulfill the mission, vision and values of Mason Health.
  13. Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
  2. 3+ years' experience in volunteer management, community resources and outreach efforts.

 

Required Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations:

  1. Volunteer Services Certification preferred, not required
