This posting may be used to establish a list of qualified candidates for the Teen Program Specialist in the Parks Division or throughout the Department of Natural Resources & Parks during the following six (6) months.

King County Parks is seeking to hire two (2) Teen Program Specialists for the Teen Program Office. This is an exciting opportunity to make a direct impact on the community by providing active leadership of recreational activities and youth employment programs for the White Center Teen Program. This essential support work will help facilitate greater services for our youth which will improve the livelihood and quality of life for our communities.

About the Role:
This position supports recreational, educational, and social enrichment programming to over 1400 underserved participants ages 12-19 each year. This role will provide youth with structured recreational classes and programs, homework assistance, educational and computer resources, leadership training, volunteer opportunities, special events, field trips, and drop-in activities.

Key projects include:

  • Leading youth and teen recreation and education programs and keeping participants safe and actively involved in programs.
  • Assisting in leading part-time employees, aides, and volunteers.
  • Collaborating and engaging with local schools and community partners to support neighborhood events and programs. 
  • Assisting in handling program and participant emergency situations.

The King County Parks Teen Program Office supports and enhances active recreation opportunities and youth employment training to underserved and under resourced communities. This is an opportunity to work directly with youth, families, and community to develop partnerships to meet the needs of program participants.
