The R&D and Quality Technician will analyze product and data and provide information that keeps the Quality and R&D functions and the entire business moving forward with confidence. Additionally, the technician will prepare prototype samples for the nutpods innovation process. As a member of the R&D and Quality team, the person will work to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient R&D lab by establishing and following standards for lab use, product testing, and prototype development.
The position is scoped for 24 hours / week but may at times flex up to 40 hours / week depending on workload.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Complete analytical and sensory tests to aid in positive release of product and to conduct shelf-life analysis.
2. Capture sensory and analytical data into the nutpods database.
3. Coordinate and execute product reviews with management as needed.
4. Prepare bench top samples as required for Quality and R&D purposes.
5. Create and improve lab-specific standard operating procedures for equipment use and test execution.
6. Check and file Certificates of Analysis (COAs) for all incoming finished goods.
7. Maintain a 5S System of all items in the lab: Sort, Set In Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain.
8. Maintain product retain inventory and lab supplies to keep the lab ready-to-use and well-stocked.
9. Ship samples and ingredients as required.

Requirements
- Experience: At least ONE of the following.
- Bachelor's degree in food science or other related degrees (Food Engineering, Food Chemistry, etc.) with a 3.0 GPA or higher.
- 2 - 3 years experience working in a chemistry, R&D, or quality lab environment.
