Para Educator, Science Resource Center 

District-wide/M&O Warehouse  

6 hours per day/191 days per year

Salary: $19.50 -21.89  per hour

 

DESCRIPTION: Coordinate the  science kit management, under the general direction of the Assistant Director of MTSS. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following:  Provide efficient purchasing, ordering and stocking of kits K-8. Improve and expand the system when appropriate. Contact vendors to establish bulk purchasing of materials guaranteeing the availability and delivery of supplies. Manage and coordinate the restocking and distribution of science kits. Assist teachers in locating information or materials relating to science education. Assistant in providing direction to SRC staff and volunteers. Assist in monitoring Science Resource Center budgets.  Assist in designing and conducting professional development activities, programs and in-services. Attend regular SRC team collaboration meetings and work with team members to create and meet SRC yearly goals..  Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with staff, students, teachers, school administrators, support personnel and community members.  Assist with meetings, events, and implementation of WSD field experience programs with teachers, scientists/engineers, administrators, higher education faculty, business/agency partners and community members.  Work collaboratively with the curriculum developer of K-12 Science Field Experiences as necessary. Demonstrate ability to communicate in a professional manner both orally and in writing. Regular, predictable attendance at the designated worksite is required. Some flexibility in work-schedule is available. Excellent time management and the ability to self monitor are required. Other duties may be assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:MinimumAA degree or equivalent or passed PRAXIS test required. Experience related to science education, curriculum and instruction. Experience in ordering, purchasing and organizing inventory. Excellent organizational skills and record keeping ability. Commitment to follow through on tasks with a minimum of supervision. In-depth knowledge of word processing and spreadsheets.  Ability to establish effective partnerships with Wenatchee School District and other community partners. Use of a personal vehicle with mileage compensation at the district current mileage rate. Attendance and punctuality are important in this position. This position requires: Working in a warehouse, where the noise level is usually moderate, but can be loud at times. The temperature can be hot or cold. The floor is cement. Prolonged sitting or standing on a regular basis. The physical capability to lift and or move science kits and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. In some cases, working with large groups of students, teachers, and/or volunteers, therefore the working environment may be moderately noisy.  The willingness to also work in classrooms and at all WSD field experience sites. The willingness to train in first aid and CPR. Care and maintenance of living materials.  Attendance and punctuality are important functions of this position.

180 - 219 Day Employees - Paid leave benefits include 10 days of sick leave, 2 personal leave days and 11 holidays.

220 - 259 Day Employees - Paid leave benefits include 10 days of sick leave, 3 personal leave days and 11 holidays.

260 Day Employees - Paid leave benefits include 12 days of sick leave, 2 personal leave days, 14 holidays and 12 vacation days.

Tuition reimbursement, 50% up to $450 per year for qualified expenses.
