You'll serve as an entry-level professional Human Resource Consultant (HRC), under the general supervision of the Human Resource Operations Manager. In your work, you will independently provide first-level technical and professional advice as well as consultation to administrators, managers, supervisors, employees, and the public regarding human resource services in the areas of appointments, classification, compensation, benefits, hiring, reasonable accommodations, layoffs/reversions, and protected leaves.

The individual works under the regular guidance of higher-level human resource professionals and provides routine level advice pertaining to advising DSHS policies, procedures, Washington Administrative Code (WAC), Revised Code of Washington (RCW), Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA), and laws pertaining to the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Family Care Act (FCA) and Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

NoteThis position is required to be onsite in the OHBH facility, two days per week.

Some of what you’ll do:

  • First HR point of contact for an Administration's Appointing Authorities 
  • Support managers, supervisors, employees, and the public for the full range of HR services
  • Under the regular direction of higher human resource professionals, and within the scope of authority, consults with, and provides routine first-level professional advice
  • Provides interpretation to Appointing Authorities, managers, supervisors, employees, and the public regarding HR-related procedures, practices, guidelines, policies, WAC’s, RCW’s, Federal and State laws, and CBA’s
  • Assess customer’s needs, identify and evaluate options, and recommend courses of action while engaging customers in analyzing and evaluating options and needs
  • Composes clear, concise, and accurate memos, letters, reports, and documents
  • Researches and resolves concerns on various personnel matters
  • Answers the public’s questions, provides advice and guidance on accessing HR services
  • Consults on hiring processes, including the coordination of the SEIU Internal Transfer and WFSE Bid processes, and related rules

Who should apply?
  • Professionals with a bachelor’s degree with a focus on business, human resources, social or organizational behavioral sciences, or related field
