DSHS BHA Security Guard 2

 has multiple Security Guard 2 opportunities at Maple Lane’s Behavioral Health Treatment Centers, in Grand Mound, WA. These positions serve as campus security for units that house adult mental health residents.  The security guards will be responsible for the safety and security of the staff, residents, visitors, and property on the Maple Lane campus.  We are seeking people who can quickly adapt to their environment, who have the skills to proactively manage safety & security situations, and who can be an effective member of our team.  Your important role is to assist Maple Lane management in enforcing campus rules, regulations, policies, and statutory law.  
 

Some of what you'll do: 
  

• Responds to emergent inpatient psychiatric situations using evidence-based therapeutic intervention techniques as part of the Advance Crisis Intervention Team (ACIT) 
• Position, transfer and contain potentially assaultive or self-harming patients
• As assigned, make rounds to living units and the treatment mall to interact with residents and staff
• Operates a motor vehicle in order to provide emergency response services to multiple locations within the Maple Lane Campus
• Maintains 24 hour electronic log on routine check and incidents
• Confiscate, secures and stores contraband, weapons and other unauthorized items and provide chain of custody documentation
• In agreement with local law enforcement, assists in gathering evidence and facts involving criminal activity
• Search for and return residents to the campus that are not authorized to leave
• Provide security gate support, which may include positioning in the Security Building to check the ID’s of the staff coming onto campus and check IDs of staff leaving campus by foot or vehicle
• Open vehicle gates for authorized vehicles, and direct vehicles to appropriate location

Who should apply:
One year of experience as a Security Guard 1

Or
High school graduation or GED AND two years of experience in areas of work such as: security guard, correctional officer or store investigations, or police officer, police reserve officer, military police or other law enforcement work
Or
A certificate of completion in a basic law enforcement training program approved by the Washington Criminal Justice Training Commissioner; or certificate of completion in a police or reserve police academy or military training program will substitute for one of the two years of required experience.
