NOW CFO is seeking a seasoned Controller Consultant to join our Seattle consulting team. This role involves overseeing client financial policies and ensuring compliance with accounting regulations while maintaining profitability and managing risk. You'll earn a competitive salary of $120,000 - $140,000 with a flexible hybrid work schedule blending in-office and remote work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial & Accounting Oversight:

    • Coordinate all financial activities and personnel.
    • Analyze cash flow, cost controls, and expenses to guide business operations.
    • Set controls and budgets to mitigate risk and increase ROI.
  • Financial Reporting & Management:

    • Prepare quarterly and annual budgets, financial statements, special analyses, and reports.
    • Conduct internal audits to assess financial status.
    • Manage bank covenant and lender reporting.
    • Oversee cash balances, billing, A/R, A/P, GL, and construction accounting.
    • Serve as the primary contact for external auditors.
  • Operational Control & Compliance:

    • Develop and maintain financial policies, internal control safeguards, and best practices.
    • Ensure compliance with GAAP and federal/state regulations.
    • Develop and implement finance, accounting, billing, and auditing procedures.
    • Respond to audit requests from outside auditors or government agencies.
  • Strategic Planning & Project Support:

    • Support the implementation of strategic business and operational plans.
    • Prepare draw requests and facilitate disbursements and expenditures.
    • Evaluate potential investment and operational refinements through financial modeling.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Background:

    • BS/BA/MBA in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred but not required).
  • Experience & Skills:

    • At least 10 years of relevant experience, preferably in accounting management in commercial real estate.
    • In-depth understanding of GAAP, financial regulations, and automated financial systems.
    • Proficiency in financial modeling, budgeting, and cost control principles.
    • Strong leadership, problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
    • High attention to detail, excellent organization, and ability to multitask.
  • Technical Proficiency:

    • Advanced Excel skills and strong computer proficiency in Word and Outlook.
    • Experience with Yardi software is preferred.
