Schedule:  Traditional Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This position requires some travel to meet with community groups, attend community events, and attend conferences and training events. Occasional overnight in state and out of state travel may be necessary and may require several early and/or late meetings or conferences throughout the year.  You will be expected to adjust schedule as needed to meet business demands and deadlines.  

**Optional hybrid schedule with a minimum of two days in the office in Olympia during probationary/trial service period.  Telework may be available after the review period. Flexible schedules are considered.

Our small agency of just 30 employees manages Washington’s behavioral traffic safety programs having a direct impact on preventing impaired driving, distracted driving, speeding, and other high-risk behaviors that lead to traffic deaths and injuries.

What you will be doing: 
The Community Engagement Manager will coordinate public participation and engagement efforts to inform traffic safety priorities, programs, and implementation. Outreach and engagement will focus on historically marginalized and underinvested communities that experience disproportionate risks of serious injury or death from traffic collisions. Outreach will also include road users of all types including transit users, pedestrians, bicyclists, and drivers. The position will collaborate with subject matter expert program managers who oversee behavioral traffic safety programs related to pedestrians, bicyclists, impaired driving, speed, distracted driving, young drivers, school zone safety, motorcycles, law enforcement, and passenger restraint and child safety seat use. The manager will also coordinate engagement efforts with other transportation and traffic safety agencies and work to ensure that outreach efforts are culturally responsive, inclusive, and accessible. The manager will be responsible for developing strategies, plans, and activities for effective engagement and reporting to executive managers and funders.
