The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Three to five years of experience in clinic management that includes supervision of staff. Rural Health Clinic (RHC) experience is required. Must have excellent interpersonal and customer skills. Must have the ability to communicate with people at all levels within the organization. Must have a working knowledge of primary care and specialty clinic operations.
  • Education: Associates degree required. Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration, nursing, or related healthcare field preferred.
  • Technical skills: Possess the ability to use PC-based computer programs including MS Office. Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. The incumbent must be able to plan, organize, and prioritize their work schedule effectively and independently. Strong experience and expertise with electronic medical records (EMR).

Job Summary:

Manage and supervise the operational and administrative functions, activities, and projects of a primary care/specialty clinic(s). Directs the business, technical, and nursing support activities of the medical/specialty clinics. Works with clinic physicians and itinerant providers to maintain and improve support services. Functional areas may include laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, physical therapy, and other specialty services. Supervises clinic staff prepares budgets and reports. Responsible for space planning, maintenance, procurement of supplies, and contract services.

Performance Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include managing, planning, and coordinating the operations of the clinic day to day to include but not limited to, supervising, and mentoring all clinic staff, monitoring the delivery of patient services, acting as a liaison with patients, businesses, hospital, staff, providers, and administration.

  • Prepare and recommend clinic budget, goals, and objectives as well as ensuring clinic compliance with policies & procedures.
  • Maintains and creates current policies and procedures Ocean Beach Medical Clinic to assure compliance with all Rural, Federal, and State Licensure requirements. Rural Health Clinic experience required. Review policies on an annual basis.
  • Coordinates education and training for staff regarding their specific job responsibilities and performance expectations and licensures.
  • Monitors individual work performances and evaluates their performances annually.
  • With assistance from Human Resources, interviews and hires candidates.
  • Assure organized, complete medical records that meet compliance standards.
  • Develops and maintains compliance policies related to regulatory requirements. Implements corrective action, when necessary, to comply with any changes to Medicare, Medicaid, and other Third-Party Payor's rules and regulations regarding patient billing.
  • Plans and conducts clinic staff and provider meetings to discuss overall operations and to improve upon the delivery of patient services/ and or operating efficiency.
  • Attends and participates in Quality Improvement, manager meetings, and other meetings as required. Maintain RHC certification for all clinic sites.
  • Work with Quality Improvement in the investigation of concerns and complaints. Recommends or initiates corrective action, if appropriate.
  • Schedules and directs the activities of all clinic personnel (including providers). Plans vacations, work, and relief schedules in support of the delivery of timely healthcare services to the community.
  • Works with Human Resources in disciplinary matters involving employees in the department, including termination.
  • In partnership with Finance, operates the EMR in a manner consistent with best practices while optimizing utility for the providers in pursuit of supporting the cost reporting and financial needs.
  • Member of senior leadership and its overall responsibility to operate a 24/7/365 hospital/clinic organization. Clinic Manager participates on "Administrator on Call" rotation.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Chief Nursing Officer.
