Title: Applied Scientist III
Duration: 6 Months with possibility of extension
Location: Remote Work (Seattle, WA Need candidates from West Coast)
Pay Rates: W2 Acceptable

Job Description:

Looking for a talented Applied Scientist to help invent, design, and deliver cutting-edge science solutions to make it easier for customers to find the next video they will love. In this role, you will have the opportunity to significantly influence the recommendations and personalization behind a new educational media experience. You will be part of a team which designs and implements Client solutions related to item discovery problems with notable academic significance.

You will work with scientists and engineers within the team, and partner with other science, economics, product and business teams across AWS to build a next generation media experience for our customers. You will contribute to the ongoing development of a system which learns from the contents of a video and enables multiple Client video discovery mechanism. There are lots of opportunities to think big and find creative ways to solve a wide set of challenging problems.

Responsibilities
* Be a technical leader in the scientific development of recommendation system that will enable users to Client new educational items.
* Work within multiple subdomains of the larger problem set (serve recommendations across multiple mediums or item types)
* Build machine learning models, perform proof-of-concept, experiment, optimize, and deploy your models into production; work closely with software engineers to assist in productionizing your Client models.
* Conduct A/B experiments, gather data, and perform statistical analysis.
* Establish scalable, efficient, automated processes for large-scale data analysis, machine-learning model development, model validation and serving.

Qualifications
Basic
* 3+ years of building machine learning models for business application experience
* Experience in Python
* PhD, or Master's degree and 4+ years of CS, CE, Client or related field experience
* Ability to develop machine learning platform strategy in the subdomain of recommender systems for media and education
* Experience working on recommender systems such as in e-commerce, advertising, music, video or other fields.
* Experience in any of the following areas: recommendations, language models, information retrieval, search, relationship representations (embeddings, graph networks), NLP, similarity analysis.

Preferred
* Experience in building scalable AI/Client models and delivering end-to-end pipelines.
* Experience with machine learning and data science libraries and deep learning frameworks (Numpy, PyTorch, etc)
* Experience in professional software development with familiarity in software development lifecycles and computer science fundamentals
* Practical experience in one or more the following focus areas
* Large language models
* Document enrichment / text mining
* Generative adversarial networks
* Semi supervised / unsupervised learning
* Automatic speech recognition
* Client Ops
* Excellent written and verbal technical communication with an ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audience.
