Our Energy and Sustainability division is currently seeking a Sustainability and Climate Project Manager to provide project management and technical expertise on public and private sector projects across the Pacific Northwest and the greater United States. This position will be based out of our Seattle, WA office.
The Sustainability and Climate PM will lead and support energy, sustainability, and climate projects across a range of clients and sectors, including public agencies, cities, and corporate contracts, in the Pacific Northwest and nationwide. The Sustainability and Climate PM is a client-facing position, and the individual in this role should be able to work independently and as part of a team to deliver client projects and services. The individual is also expected to be able to communicate effectively and coordinate with internal team members and clients on the progress and issue of tasks and deliverables. This individual is expected to be able to anticipate project opportunities and risks as they emerge, and identify pre-emptive or proactive solutions to ensure that our team continues to deliver high-quality services and deliverables to our clients.
Responsibilities:
The following list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary by management:
Manage and support energy, sustainability, and climate projects for public and private sector clients
Work with public- and private-sector clients to develop actionable strategic sustainability and climate plans
Oversee the work of project teams and sub-consultants to ensure successful project execution and delivery of services
Interface directly with clients, including agency owners, engineers, architects, contractors, and other professional services consultants
Attend client meetings, track and drive action items, manage schedule and budget across multiple projects
Provide subject matter and technical expertise to clients on sustainability, climate change, and other environmental issues in addition to guidance on program and project implementation. Subject matter may include, but not be limited to, climate mitigation, climate adaptation and resilience, energy conservation and efficiency, water conservation, solid waste management, etc.
Work with clients to assess existing sustainability and environmental programs and identify areas of opportunity and innovation
Identify or develop building-, campus-, and/or organization-scale sustainability and climate solutions for public and private sector clients
Lead or support community and stakeholder engagement by designing and facilitating workshops, focus groups, small-group or individual interviews, and other planning sessions for strategic planning projects or program implementation
Develop and execute communication and engagement strategies for client projects, which may include work with graphic designers, social media and marketing professionals, translation service providers, and video/photography professionals to develop outreach materials and content
Implement and manage sustainability projects and programs for existing clients as part of ongoing on-call or owner’s representative services
Lead or support sustainability, ESG, or other reporting processes for clients, which may include data management and analysis, metrics calculations, and report and communication material development
Design, develop, and manage Excel-based or online tools, databases, and other tracking mechanisms to support sustainability program implementation and assessment for our clients
Collect, organize, review, and develop status documentation for project tasks and deliverables.
Advise senior management of project task status on a regular basis.
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management, Environmental Policy, Environmental or Urban Planning, Environmental Sciences, Sustainability Management, or related field from an accredited four-year college or university.
Preferred Education:
Master’s or Doctorate degree in Environmental Management, Environmental Policy, Environmental or Urban Planning, Environmental Sciences, Sustainability Management, or related field from an accredited college or university.
Required Qualifications and Experience
5+ years of hands-on project or program management experience related to sustainability, climate mitigation, climate adaptation and resilience, and/or environmental compliance.
Experience in the sustainability, climate, energy, transportation, water, or solid waste industry.
Experience in direct client relations
Experience with managing large volumes of data management and performing Excel-based analyses
Preferred Qualifications, Certifications, and Experience
Experience managing projects or working with public agencies or municipalities in Washington, Oregon, California, or elsewhere in the United States
Experience with developing or leading climate or sustainability strategic plans, reports, and related projects or programs
Relevant sustainability accreditation (e.g., LEED AP, WELL, Fitwel, Envision SP, ISSP, etc.)
License Requirements and Position Details:
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Ability to travel (anticipated 10% or less) as needed
Excellent time management and organization skills are essential
