Project Manager Senior Overview A Project Manager Sr. is responsible for leading project teams in the day to day execution of projects of typically medium complexity and single or multiple year duration to achieve an established set of outcomes. Responsibilities include all phases of projects, including initiation, planning, execution, and close-out on time and within budget. A Project Manager may be assigned to manage facility construction or major maintenance projects in areas such as hydro power plant rehab, utility transmission or distribution system construction, major building construction, and/or telecommunications building infrastructure.
Project Manager Principal Overview The Principal Project Manager is responsible for leading project teams in the day-to-day execution of projects that are typically highly complex and of multiple year duration to achieve an established set of outcomes. Responsibilities include all phases of projects, including initiation, planning, execution, and close-out on time and within budget.
A Project Manager may be assigned to manage facility construction or major maintenance projects in areas such as hydro power plant rehab, utility transmission or distribution system construction, major building construction, and/or telecommunications building infrastructure. Project Manager Senior Responsibilities
· Project Execution: Complete development and implement projects of typically medium complexity and single or multiple year duration according to the project goals and objectives. Establish the basis for performance measurement and control project work scope by measuring progress in accordance with project plans and objectives. Medium complexity projects generally have some or all of the following characteristics: • Some risk to the District; • Technical complexity • Impact more than 10 stakeholders • Involve a project team larger than 10 team members • May impact multiple business units • Budgets typically greater than $5M. • Require management of vendor(s) and consultant(s) • Change management responsibilities · Project Planning: Develop plans to implement and manage projects including resource requirements, milestones, deliverables, risk assessments, cost estimates, quality requirements and project-specific policies, procedures, and guidelines. Work with stakeholders to develop project objectives. · Project Control Systems: Establish and follow effective project control systems to ensure contractor and District activities comply with established work schedules and contract terms. · Quality Control: Ensure that quality controls are established and in place throughout the project to ensure customer satisfaction, cost effective design and technical requirements are of project are met. · Project Team Direction: Develop and implement viable project teams to ensure effective performance of project functions. Create a team environment that encourages excellent performance and timely decisions. Identify appropriate staff resources and negotiate with resource manager(s) to fill necessary positions. Coordinate with other managers to ensure project resources are fully utilized. Escalate project issues and decisions to decision makers in a timely manner. Ensure peer review of project work products is performed by qualified staff. May perform some hands-on engineering and/or construction manager work. May perform field data collection using engineering instruments, digital technologies, ladders, lifts, or small tools. · Communications: Communicate project progress with supervisor, project teams, and internal clients. Collaboratively develop communications with external clients, project stakeholders, and regulatory agencies. · Development & Mentoring: Continue to develop and refine project management skills through continuing education and training. Mentor lower level Project Managers. · Maintain regular and predictable attendance: Perform related duties and responsibilities as required. Comply with District policies. Complete all required training. Maintain a working knowledge and comply with District safety procedures and specific safety requirements of this position, and those in accordance with applicable provisions of the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) and Washington Administrative Code (WAC). · As an essential function, drive a motorized vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the District. Contribute to the development of long-range plans and budgets. · Project Control Systems: Establish and follow effective project and/or program control systems to ensure contractor and District activities comply with established work schedules and contract terms. Project Manager Senior & Project Manager Principal Education Equivalent experience (year for year) may substitute for required education. · Bachelor's Degree (B.S., B.A.) in Construction Management, Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Network Engineering, or a related field, from four-year college or university is required. Project Manager Senior Experience
· 7+ years’ experience performing construction or major maintenance project management is required. · 10+ years typical experience is required. · Candidates with experience managing multiple projects in the following areas are preferred: - Power plant rehabilitation or major maintenance - Major building construction - Utility transmission or distribution system construction - Telecommunication system cabling infrastructure, or similar preferred. · Preference will be given to candidates with experience best aligned with the types of projects to be managed. Project Manager Principal Experience · 10+ years’ experience performing construction or major maintenance project management is required. · 15+ years typical experience is required. · Candidates with experience managing multiple projects in the following areas are preferred: Power plant rehabilitation or major maintenance - Major building construction - Utility transmission or distribution system construction - Telecommunication system cabling infrastructure, or similar preferred. · Preference will be given to candidates with experience best aligned with the types of projects to be managed.
