POSITION: Truck Driver/Donation Attendant
STATUS: HOURLY, FULL-TIME
REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
High School degree or equivalent.
Demonstrated experience in warehouse environment or equivalent type work.
Demonstrated ability to drive a box truck, usually a 20' box or less.
Clean driving record.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Self starter
Strong use of the English language in verbal and written communication
Good organizational skills
Ability to work with the public in a professional manner

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain poise under pressure
Customer service mindset
Ability to read a map and assist in address location.
Must complete and adhere to Protecting the Mission requirements and guidelines, including the ability to pass a TSA background check
Must possess a valid, in-state license and be able to pass The Salvation Army's in-house driving test and MVR check, auto insurance
Ability to meet all applicable federal and state driving requirements such as DOT physicals
If employee owns his/her own vehicle, must possess current auto insurance for instances in which a personal vehicle is used on TSA time and/or business. Please note that TSA adheres to the federal standards regarding mileage reimbursements.
Ability to work on Saturday and/or Sunday if there is a CDC in the area
SCOPE OF POSITION:
Pick up donations, deliver merchandise, and possibly assist in the operation of the warehouse to include, sorting, pricing, hanging, cleaning, arranging, and helping with merchandise donations. Driver may also be driving between stores, warehouse, and other locations for pickup and delivery.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Maintain fuel levels in truck and report all concerns to supervisor.
* Fill out daily inspection sheets and required paperwork.
* Unload donations vehicles placing items in the proper processing areas.
* Bale clothing and cardboard as needed.
* Empty trash bins as needed.
* Processing of donations, pricing, and sorting.
* Accept donations at the warehouse door and offer a receipt.
* Help load purchased items into customers' vehicles.
* Maintain work areas; keep them in a clean and neat manner.
* Maintain recycling bins keeping metal categories separate.
* Help stock retail area with furniture, appliances and large items as needed
* Properly load the truck with donations and properly secure load for safe travel.
* To perform all other duties as instructed by supervisor
The staff is responsible to positively acknowledge and treat all customers in a professional manner.
Customer complaints will be handled in a professional manner by all staff. If the staff should personally encounter complaints, they must immediately notify the Manager of the facts surrounding the complaint and the disposition thereof. Failure to deal promptly and properly with complaints may be grounds for disciplinary action.
Must be available to attend all regularly scheduled and mandatory staff meetings regardless of whether they are outside a scheduled shift or standard workday.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time on a hard floor
Ability to continuously grasp, push, pull objects and reach overhead
Ability to operate telephone
Ability to repetitively lift 50 lbs
Ability to operate a GPS devise
Ability to produce written information
Ability to understand written information including maps
Ability to operate a motor vehicle, specifically a 20ft box truck

Sick Leave: 12 days of Sick Leave annually accruing from day one, eligible for use after three months' service time.
Paid Vacation:
Two weeks annually, accruing from day one, for non-exempt positions.
Four weeks annually, accruing from day one, for exempt positions.
Accrued vacation is eligible for use after six months' service time.
Paid Holidays: 13 designated holidays + 1 floating holiday per year
