JOB TITLE:Electrician, Journey Level
REPORTS TO: Superintendent/Project Manager/BUL
PAY RANGE:$32.00-$38.00 / DOE
SUMMARY
Works in shipyard environment and equipment lay-down areas. Troubleshoot, repair, and replace electrical equipment including: motor and logic controllers, switchboard mods, load centers, buss transfer switches, electrical circuits, and all cabling systems. Perform preventive/corrective maintenance to equipment and systems as assigned. Able to do work as a independent certified electrician (Washington EL01). May be asked to provide guidance to entry level electricians as well as perform additional non electrician related duties as assigned within the equipment maintenance branch.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform installation, maintenance, and repair to electrically operated equipment
- Perform diagnostic troubleshooting to electrical systems and equipment using test equipment such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes
- Work from ladders, scaffolds, or in drydocks to maintain, or repair electrical equipment
- Perform routine equipment inspections to ensure equipment is operating as designed, both mechanically and electrically
- Identify and make necessary adjustments or repairs to equipment during routine inspections
- Perform preventive maintenance/equipment reconditioning during equipment down time
- Participate in the delivery, set up, electrical connection, and operational testing of equipment as assigned
- Work safely and comply with local/state safety and environmental requirements
- Work closely with trades/production personnel and shipyard electrical departments to minimize equipment downtime during maintenance or repairs
- Comply with all safety requirements and practices associated with voltages up to 480V and utilize lock out/tag out as required to safely remove all energy hazards while performing duties
- Conduct routine inspections of grounding/bonding systems in place
- Ensure cable selection/use is appropriate size/rating for applications in use
- Use electrical safety personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- A working Knowledge of NAVSEA Standard Items is preferred
- Willingness to learn and work to the best of his/her abilities and have a dependable work ethic
- Ability to read and interpret documents furnished in written, oral, and schematic form including, but not limited to, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, quality and procedure manuals
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Washington State Electrician Journey Level (EL01) license/certification is required.

- Within the shipyard, minimal exposure to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, dusty conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, hazardous machinery
