Summary: The Radiology Technologist supports the patient care cycle by performing a variety of imaging procedures while ensuring patient safety conducting these procedures in accordance with state, federal and industry guidelines; including mammography studies. This position utilizes strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills to maintain patient flow while balancing the need for emergent/stat studies needed. The Radiology Technologist is expected to stay abreast of current technology, changes and improvements in their field of expertise. The Radiology Technologist maintains a close working relationship with Medical Providers, nursing and other staff members. This position supports the Radiology team in a manner consistent with the Mission and Vision of Coulee Medical Center.

- Monitor medical equipment for adequacy and safety and requests service for maintenance and repairs
Infection Control:
- Demonstrate knowledge of infection and exposure control in all patient care to prevent the spread of disease and infection
- Adhere to strict Coulee Medical Center infection control guidelines for hand washing and standard precautions, and blood borne pathogens as evidenced by appropriate use of personal protective equipment
- Report any and all exposures in accordance with OSHA and Coulee Medical Center guidelines, policies, and procedures
Patients’ Rights:
- Provide privacy and maintains confidentiality
- Ensure the patients’ independence and right to make personal choices to accommodate their needs in accordance with the interdisciplinary care plan
- Provide care that ensures patients are free from abuse, mistreatment, and neglect, and reports any such incident to the appropriate hospital staff
- Provide care to avoid the need for chemical/physical restraints by maintaining a safe environment for patients
- Ensure care and security of patients’ personal possessions
- Other Duties as assigned by department manager
Competencies/Abilities:
- Performs a variety of radiographic exams requiring special equipment and procedures such as: mammograms, IVP’s, tomograms, myelograms, arthrograms, cholangiograms, and surgical procedures
- Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing imaging procedures.
- Instructs and prepares patients for radiographic and/or fluoroscopic procedures.
- Selects appropriate equipment to use for procedure.
- Determines most suitable anatomical posture and positions patients accordingly.
- Utilizes shielding devices whenever possible to protect self and patient from undo radiation.
- Programs portable or stationary X-ray machines to create radiographs for a variety of examinations.
- Programs imaging equipment to minimize extraneous radiation to patients
- Practices sterile technique during procedures.
- Assists in maintaining files, records, and reports.
- Assists in training of students and ancillary personnel.
- Takes X-ray and CT calls after regular hours according to a monthly schedule.
- Demonstrate use of computer programs necessary to perform job functions effectively.

Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
Education: Graduate of accredited Radiology Technology program. Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), hold an additional certification from ARRT for Mammography and be certified with Washington State.
Experience: Previous experience desirable
Skills: Able to participate in rotating call schedule; be available within 20 minutes of being called.
