T-Mobile USA, Inc. seeks Principal Engineers, Systems Architecture in Bellevue, WA to work with other departments and vendors in shaping, designing, testing, and implementing rating, metering and provisioning solutions for network services. Own the provisioning domain as a specialist. Design and drive enhancements to the domain while working with core network systems (like voice core, packet core and messaging network nodes), internal stakeholders and external vendors. Drive enhancements to the necessary monitoring and reporting tools. Drive software deployments and platform upgrades. Support onboarding of the T-Mobile’s own products and its MVNOs (Mobile virtual network operators). Provide regular reports and communications to peer teams and leadership. Be proficient in sharing complex technical material and project progress with senior management. Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in software design solution space and act as point of contact towards internal customers. Think big, identify opportunities, sell ideas with partner teams, and influence implementation strategies. Drive solution design, implementation, and timeline for special projects leading multiple technical streams across various internal and external teams. Research and provide input to feature requests and platform enhancements. Create network design and successfully document it. Participate and contribute in technical reviews. Enhance, simplify, and optimize existing applications and processes. Connect to various industry forums to stay up to date with technology and market dynamics to drive T-Mobile applications evolution and influence vendors roadmap or 3GPP standardization to fulfill T-Mobile technology goals. Experience and education requirements: PRIMARY REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related, or its foreign equivalent, and 5 years of relevant work experience. ALTERNATIVE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related, or its foreign equivalent, and 7 years of relevant work experience. In addition, the following skills are required: (1) Applying knowledge of Telecom billing systems and provisioning workflows to redesign to ensure specific customizations are reduced and all billers are steered toward a simplified and unified provisioning model. Designing and implementing simplifications or upgrades to the enterprise provisioning architecture. Leading the implementation of the change through production deployment. (2) Utilizing in-depth knowledge of the customer lifecycle management system in Telecom BSS to streamline provisioning in OSS. Maintaining working knowledge of interactions with one or more systems including PGW, Charging system, Nokia Application Publisher (NAP), IAM, Packet core, and OTA. Refactoring design to standardize and simplify interaction between these and other provisioning systems. Designing to gain most value in the network efficiencies / long-term simplification / agility / cost savings. (3) Applying incremental improvements to simplify the enterprise architecture and increase robustness, availability, fault tolerance, and security for biller interaction with network provisioning systems including PGW, HLR, HSS, and Charging system. (4) Software release planning, software development, and implementing releases across lab and production network nodes while designing and building solutions. Using experience in designing and leading on-going biller onboarding programs and Network system upgrades. (5) Applying knowledge of cloud native design to large scale enterprise provisioning systems. Producing technical architecture and design documents like Business Requirements document (BRD) or Functional Specifications document (FSD) to clarify or promote the new design and serve as a technical asset to operational and lab testing and validation teams. Washington Pay Range: $182,312.00 - $212,500.00/year. The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the state listed. The successful candidate’s actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience.
