Overview: A Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Nurse provides specialized nursing care in surgical services and operating rooms, focusing on patients undergoing open-heart (cardiovascular) procedures. This role requires advanced skills in patient advocacy, safety and quality alignment, professional development, and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advocates for Patient Safety: Ensures patient safety and quality of care through adherence to best practices and protocols.
- Aligns Practice with Safety and Quality Standards: Implements and follows safety and quality guidelines to enhance patient outcomes.
- Engages in Professional Development: Actively participates in ongoing education and professional growth opportunities.
- Leads in the Practice Setting & Community: Demonstrates leadership by coordinating teams and contributing to the community and professional practice setting.
Required Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- Washington Registered Nurse License upon hire.
- National Provider BLS (Basic Life Support) – American Heart Association upon hire.
- At least 1 year of nursing experience in an operating room (OR) environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- National Certification in area of specialty preferred upon hire, unless otherwise indicated.
Screening Questions:
- Do you have at least 1 year of experience in an OR environment as an RN? (Note: Clinical rotations in school and residency programs do not count. This is an experienced RN role in the OR.)
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- At least 1 year of hands-on experience working in an Operating Room, not including residency, clinical hours, or school time.
