Bring your knowledge and expertise as our next Learning and Development Lead to develop 3-year Learning/Strategic Plan. The ability to anticipate and solve problems with nearly obsessive attention to detail pretty much sums up the KBA difference. The Learning and Organizational Development Lead is responsible for the development and implementation of a firmwide Learning and Development Strategic Plan. The Lead oversees the entire learning process, from conducting a training needs analysis, to selecting or creating appropriate training, coordinating and facilitating the delivery of the training, and evaluating the effectiveness and outcomes of the training. The Lead will manage the training budget and vendors while ensuring that the training complies with legal and ethical standards. The Lead may work on a variety of training: on-the-job, technical, soft skills, leadership, compliance, or professional development. Working knowledge of Learning & Development, Organizational Development and knowledge of the A/E/C industry preferred. Participation in at least one Architecture, Engineering, Construction and/or HR professional organization is required. The Lead may supervise direct reports which could include construction management staff and recruiting functions. Participation in at least one Architecture/Engineering/Construction and/or HR professional organization is required.
Who you are and what you will be doing:
Learning and Development (90%)
- Responsible for new employee assessments and facilitation of “just in time training”, reviewing employee and supervisor feedback, coordinating KBA required learning if identified, and implementation of 90-day new hire review process and identification of learning needs.
- Responsible for maintaining approval from WSDOT to provide and certify KBA employees with WSDOT Certified Inspector Training.
- With support from Project/Senior Managers, create and implement a 3-year Learning and Development Strategic Plan which may include emotional intelligence/career pathing, the work of construction management, mentoring program/relationships, supervisor skills, supervisor legal, skill or role cohorts, etc.
- Create and implement KBA specific learning programs, including but not limited to: leadership, emerging PM, credentials, federal aid management, and construction management specific topics (ADA, engineering math, etc.), and tech tools (Bluebeam, PlanGrid, SharePoint, and any future tech tools that may be developed).
- Create tools and systems to track employee Learning, assessments, and certifications.
- Create, update and track job descriptions for field staff KBA roles.
- Update KBA’s career track plans (Admin, Professional, Technical, Engineering & Management) as necessary.
- Work with employees to understand KBA’s career tracks and support their personal career development opportunities.
- Track professional certifications and facilitate payment of associated bonuses, approve employee learning plans, and annually verify that licenses and certifications are current (PE, CCM, PMP, etc.).
KBA Salary Set and Engagement (10%)
Participate in mid-year and annual salary setting and pay equity meetings.
Implement and enforce KBA’s Health & Safety Policies & Procedures.
Conduct Employee Safety Audits.
Contribute to improvement of KBA Processes & Standards.
Other Duties as Assigned
What you’ll need to be successful (minimum requirements):
- Five (5) to Ten (10) years of experience in learning and development, curriculum development, and technical employee support - preferably in the Architecture, Engineering, Construction industry.
- Possess strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Strong attention to detail, and passion and respect for accuracy and timeliness is required.
What we’d love if you had (preferred requirements):
- A 4-year business, organizational development, technical, human resources, leadership development or higher degree preferred.
- A Human Resources certification is a plus.
- Learning Management systems is desirable.
