Department of Executive Services – Facilities Management Division (DES-FMD): Through the work of over 350 dedicated Facilities Management Division (FMD) employees, FMD provides clean, environmentally sustainable, and cost-effective work environments for every other department across King County, within a rapidly changing world. The division’s six sections include: building operations (custodial and building maintenance), capital projects, security management, real estate services (property acquisition, leases, etc.), finance, and strategic and long-term space planning. FMD works to incorporate equity and social justice and environmental sustainability principles in every aspect of our work. The successful fellow will focus on FMD-HR activities.
Department of Human Resources – Career & Culture Division: The Department of Human Resources’ mission is to provide strategic human resources leadership, modernized systems, customer-focused services, and tools designed to support the management, growth, and development of the King County workforce. Career and Culture is a division within DHR. The division leads the way in building work cultures throughout King County where every employee can thrive and provides services in the areas of Organizational Development, Learning and Development, and Employee Experience. This opportunity is primarily in the Learning and Development and Employee Experience sections. Primary duties may include: facilitating workshops for employees, supporting curriculum development, assist with the coordination of King County virtual learning platform, applying an equity lens to all work, creating cross-functional alignment, embedding King County True North & Values into all initiatives, supporting employee experience data collection efforts, and providing support for ongoing workforce development initiatives.
Department of Natural Resources and Parks (DNRP)- Parks Division (KCP): Parks mission is to steward, enhance, and acquire parks to inspire healthy communities. KCP is responsible for 205 parks, over 175 miles of regional trails, 250 miles of backcountry trails, 32,000 acres of open space, and 150,000 acres of conservation easements. From regional treasures such as Marymoor Park and Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland Park to amenities such as athletic fields, regional trails, and pools, there is something for everyone. King County Parks is committed to providing safe, welcoming, and equitable access for all communities.
King County Council (KCC): As King County’s legislative branch of government, the King County Council sets broad policy, enacts laws, and adopts budgets that have a significant impact on King County communities. The Council also oversees specific functions of county government, ensuring that public resources are managed effectively. This work is accomplished through Council committees that focus on specific issues such as transportation or human services, and through the County’s independent agencies that are housed in the legislative branch.
