Title: Truck Driver/Laborer Department: Heavy Highway

Purpose of Position
Truck drivers are responsible to haul concrete median barrier on construction projects in Eastern and Western Washington. Must drive company vehicles in accordance with DOT regulations and PSC policies, practices, and procedures. Some laborer work will be required.
Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience: High school diploma/GED preferred. 3 years experience as CDL driver with valid WSDL Class A endorsement. Knowledge of DOT requirements.
Licensure/Credentials:WSDL Class A endorsement. Forklift training course must be completed within first 30 days of hire.
Working Conditions
Physical Demand: Requires normal/corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Must be able to lift a minimum of 80 lbs. on a frequent basis.
Equipment Used: On occasion will need to operate a forklift, straps to tie down loads, CB Radios, cell phones to keep in contact with other crew members.
Hours of Work: On call. Hours of work vary due to project timelines. Majority of work is performed out of town and nights.
Essential Job Functions
- Operates vehicle safely at all times.
- Obeys all traffic laws and regulations when operating and driving company truck.
- Wears personal protective equipment as required by DOT and OSHA.
- Maintains a driver log as required to assure compliance with all regulations.
- Performs basic vehicle maintenance tasks such as adding oil, fuel, radiator fluid or performing minor repairs.
- Must complete a vehicle inspection report to assure vehicles and equipment are safe to operate before leaving company premises.
- Makes sure to check load, equipment, and materials are properly secured prior to transportation.
- Loads or unloads trucks, helps others with loading and unloading, and operates any special loading equipment such as forklifts to assist crew.
- Hauls concrete median barrier to and from construction projects
- Assists with loading/unloading trucks.
- Assists with setting permanent and/or temporary barrier with assistance from cranes and forklifts.
- Mixes and applies concrete grout to repair any damage to barrier.
- Moves dunnage for setting barriers.
- Fills impact barriers with water.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
- Knowledge of DOT requirements.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations.
- Knowledge of securely strapping loads regulations.
- Ability to fill out daily log sheets accurately.
- Ability to operate trucks safely in freeway and heavy traffic, mountain passes, and construction zones.
- Ability to check trucks to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the English language in order to communicate with staff on all levels.
