Responsibilities:
- Design and engineer high-level waste (HLW) electrical systems and equipment across the entire facility to prepare for procurement and construction phases.
- Utilize advanced engineering tools like ETAP, and possibly SETROUTE and BlockDraw for design tasks.
- Develop comprehensive understanding and application of various engineering and electrical diagrams and schematics.
- Perform specialized tasks, studies, and calculations, including equipment sizing and cable sizing.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant codes, standards, and design requirements.
- Handle multiple tasks, meet conflicting deadlines, and manage frequent interruptions effectively.
- Work collaboratively across disciplines and lead small teams of engineers, designers, and technologists.
Qualifications and Skills:
Basic Qualifications:
- BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or college with 9+ years of related experience.
- Ability to pass pre-employment screenings, including drug tests, physical exams (if on-site), and background checks.
- Must be eligible to obtain a Department of Energy badge for site access.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- In-depth knowledge of NEC codes and ANSI/IEEE standards.
- Experienced with ETAP and other electrical design tools like CAD 2D and cable designing/routing software.
- Excellent communication skills.
- EIT Certification or the ability to obtain it within 12 months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MS degree in Electrical Engineering with 7+ years of related experience.
- PE Registration.
- Leadership or supervisory experience.
- Experience with projects for DOD or DOE.
