JOB SUMMARY: | To perform skilled repairs and building maintenance of district facilities. |
QUALIFICATIONS: | Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent education, training, and experience that provides the required abilities and skills. Preference for a person who can demonstrate strong plumbing and mechanical skills and experience working in a school or similar commercial like setting. Priority given to applicants who have experience in steam or hydronic heating systems, backflow testing, or irrigation systems. Demonstrated ability or ability to obtain competence in preventative maintenance practices for all facilities, which may include carpentry, painting, electrical, HVAC, and other appropriate skills. Must have a valid Washington state drivers license. Preference for applicants who have experience operating equipment such as loaders, lawn mowers, utility vehicles, and man-lifts. Must possess good oral and written skills. Knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions of position. Ability to successfully complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision. Commitment to communicating effectively and inclusively in multicultural settings. Ability to organize work and time efficiently and effectively. Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with staff, students, and the public. Evidence of a commitment to pride in work done and adaptable to assigned tasks. Priority given to applicants meeting other qualifications who are fluent in Spanish. |
EMPLOYMENT TERMS: | 8 hrs/day; 260 day position, Monday-Friday. Salary range: $34.30-$38.82 per hour, per Collective Bargaining Agreement. An additional $.50/per hour is awarded to those with a college degree. This position is part of the local bargaining association. Medical, dental and other benefits available from approved plans based on SEBB requirements. Federal/State criminal background clearance (fingerprinting) and all other mandated clearances required. When hiring and promoting personnel, consideration is given to experience and performance in developing effective parent, family and community partnerships. Individuals on layoff status, who meet job requirements, shall receive first consideration for newly posted positions within the appropriate job classification. |
PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS: | Lifting, carrying, long periods of standing and walking, reaching, climbing on ladders, pulling and pushing. Use of hand and power tools; work performed indoors and outdoors, exposure to dirt and dust, hazards, chemicals, heat and cold, noise of equipment and the like. Mental demands include problem solving, decision making, reading instructions, correct use of equipment and supplies. Verbal communications. |
