JOB DESCRIPTION
PERFORMING MANUAL LABOR THAT WILL DEVELOP & PROTECT FORESTED AREAS DESIGNATED FOR HARVESTING COMMERCIAL TIMBER IN THE FUTURE.
CUTTING OF UNDESIRABLE & DISEASED TREES. SPRAYING VEGETATION TO ELIMINATE UNWANTED UNDERBRUSH. BRUSH CUTTING/PILING AND THE CUTTING OF LIMBS OF THE COMMERCIAL TIMBER WILL BE CONDUCTED IN ORDER TO ENCOURAGE THE GROWTH OF THE TIMBER. WORK WILL BE CONDUCTED IN AREAS THAT WERE LOGGED OFF 20 YEARS OR SO AGO AND THE UNWANTED GROWTH WILL BE ELIMINATED IN ORDER FOR THE STANDING TIMBER, 16 - 20 YEARS OLD, TO BE ABLE TO MATURE AT A GREATER RATE. WHEN REQUIRED, THE SELECTED LIMBS OF THE REMAINING TREES WILL BE CUT. AS REQUIRED, BRUSH WILL BE CUT, PILED, AND COVERED FOR PROPER
DISPOSAL OF THE MATERIAL IN A PRESCRIBED MANNER. ALL OF THE CUTTING, TREES AND BRUSH WILL BE PERFORMED WITH THE USE OF A CHAINSAW. EMPLOYEES ARE EXPECTED TO MAINTAIN THE SAW, SHARPEN THE CHAIN IN THE FIELD, MAINTAIN THE CORRECT FLUID LEVELS, AND PROPERLY BREAK THE SAW DOWN FOR CLEANING. THE COMBINED WEIGHT OF THE SAW, FUEL, AND OIL IS APPROXIMATELY 30 POUNDS AND MUST BE CARRIED UP AND DOWN DIFFICULT TERRAIN RANGING FROM 30% - 40% IN SLOPE. AT TIME, BRUSH WILL BE SPRAYED FIRST AND THEN EMPLOYEES WILL RETURN TO REMOVE THE VEGETATION. THE EMPLOYEE MUST DEMONSTRATE THAT HE CAN WORK IN A SAFE AND EFFECTIVE MANNER
JOB REQUIREMENTS :
Requirements: 3-month experience performing pre-commercial thinning. Available to work in each of the counties named and complete the entire season. No education requirements are needed, training available if needed. Resume showing 3 months experience needed at time of interview. Transportation provided by Hugo Reforestation Inc. to and from the worksites and in between the worksites at no expense to the employee. Work will be performed in the following counties - WASHINGTON STATE: Chelan, Clallam, Clark, Cowlitz, Ferry, Grays Harbor, Jefferson, King, Kitsap, Klickitat, Lewis, Kittitas, Mason, Okanogan, Pacific, Pend Oreille, Pierce, Skagit, Skamania, Snohomish, Spokane, Stevens, Thurston, Wahkiakum, Whatcom. STATE OF IDAHO: Boundary, Bonner, Kootenai, Benewah, Latah, Nez Perce, Shoshone,
Clearwater, Lewis. STATE OF OREGON: Washington, Tillamook, Clatsop, Colombia, Clackamas, Coos, Linn, Lane, Marion, Benton, Hood River, Yamhill, Multnomah, Polk, Lincoln, Jefferson, Deschutes, Douglas, Baker, Grant, Umatilla, Union, Wallowa. STATE OF ALASKA: Kodiak Island, Anchorage, Ketchikan, Sitka, Wrangell, Juneau. Most of the work will require departure from Chehalis, WA. When required, hotel accommodation is provided by the company at no cost to the employee when work is conducted outside of the Lewis County area.
GENERAL JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
DISCLOSURE OF WORK CONTRACT
Employer will provide a copy of this document to any H2-B worker, in a language understood by the worker as reasonable per 20 CFR 655.20 (I), no later than the time at which the worker applies for the visa, or for a worker in corresponding employment, no later than the day work commences.
Full Season Commitment:
The worker agrees to the job offer to be available for the work every day that work is available for the full period of employment starting June 1, 2024, ending December 31, 2024.
HOURS/DAYS/SCHEDULE:
Hours: 40 hours a week, 7am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday. No overtime is expected, however, might be occasional. The company guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least 3/4 of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employment period.
Hourly rate per hour will be determined by the county the work is done at the moment. Rates might vary due to the location of the work. (County wise.)
SALARY/WAGE/BENEFITS:
Wage ranges from $17.31 to $24.28per hour. Overtime may be offered at $25.96 to $36.42 per hour, depending in which county work is performed.
Hugo Reforestation will use a single workweek as its standard for computing wages due. Workers are paid every two (2) weeks.
The employer will provide sick leave to employees. The employee will accrue paid sick leave at a minimum rate of 1 hour for every 40 hours worked.
Employees are entitled to accrued paid sick leave, beginning on the 90th Calendar Day after the start of their employment, and sick leave will be paid at employee’s normal hourly rate.
Unused paid sick leave the 40 hours or less will be carried over to the following year for those workers returning to employment with the employer
The company will make all deductions from the worker's paycheck required by law: FICA Taxes, Federal Income Tax if required, other deductions expressly authorized or required by state or federal law, cash advances and repayment of loans, repayment of overpayment of wages to the worker payment for articles which the worker has voluntarily purchased from the employer, long-distance telephone charges, recovery of any loss to the employer due to the worker’s damage (beyond normal wear and tear) and any other deductions expressly authorized by the worker in writing.
The employer will deduct a portion of worker’s compensation premium for workers' pay as specified in Washington Law at RCW 514.51.140.
The employer will withhold from the employee’s wages the maximum amount for the portion of employee premium required under WA State RCW 50A.04, Paid and Medical Leave Program.
HOUSING/LODGING ACCOMODATIONS.
Employer will NOT provide housing for the workers; however, employer will facilitate housing arrangements which are paid for by the employee, if the employee must relocate to the Lewis County area.
When required, hotel accommodation is provided by the company at NO cost ($0.00) to the employee when work is conducted outside of the Lewis County area.
Tools and Equipment
The company/employer will provide workers at no charge or deposit charge all tools, supplies and equipment required to perform the duties assigned, in accordance with 20CFR655.20(k).
Transportation:
Transportation to and from jobsites, will be provided to employees on the daily bases, with NO Cost to employees.
Inbound:
Per CFR 655.20 (J)(1)(i) The employer will either provide or reimburse the worker for transportation and substance from the place from which the worker has come to the work for the employer, whether in the U.S. or abroad, to the place of employment if the workers complete 50% of the period of employment covered by the job order (not counting any extensions).
The employer will reimburse the H2-B worker, in the first workweek for all visa, visa processing, border, crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the government, incurred by the H2-B worker.
Outbound:
The employer will arrange and pay for transportation and subsistence directly, advance at a minimum the most economical and reasonable common carrier cost of the transportation and subsistence to the workers before the worker’s departure, or pay the worker a reasonable cost incurred. The amount of the transportation payment will be no less (and is not required to be more) than the most economical and reasonable common carrier transportation charges for the distance involved. The rate of reimbursement for subsistence during transportation if $ 15.88 per day, if no receipts are offered, up to a maximum of $ 59.00 per day, if the worker presents receipts as specified in 20 CFR 655.122(h)(1) and 20 CFR 655.173 (a).
The Employer will provide or pay for reasonable lodging and accommodation when applicable.
