Description
Position Summary:
The Volunteer Recruitment Specialist is responsible for recruiting volunteers for Catholic Charities' Elder Services programs, with a special emphasis on the AmeriCorps Senior Companion Program. This role involves community outreach, the use of an agency vehicle to travel within the defined job service area, which includes Yakima, Benton, and Franklin counties. Collaboration with Elder Services staff is vital to ensure a consistent flow of volunteers, particularly among individuals aged 55+ with low incomes, while actively seeking to recruit a diverse and inclusive group of volunteers.
Responsibilities:
Recruitment
Gain a thorough understanding of the various volunteer requirements for each Elder Services program.
Develop a list of potential and ongoing volunteer recruitment locations within Yakima, Benton, and Franklin counties, including low-income housing, senior housing, and similar venues.
Organize and attend meetings at the above locations, traveling as necessary to distribute informational packets and engage with potential volunteers.
Collaborate with the Elder Services staff to develop and implement new recruitment strategies.
Seek out and attend community volunteer recruitment events, including but not limited to recruiting fairs, tabling at community events, and proactively seeking opportunities to attract potential volunteers.
Engage, present, and educate the community, including but not limited to local churches, clubs, and other current and future community partners, about Catholic Charities' Elder Services programs.
Continuously seek and develop innovative ways to recruit a diverse volunteer pool within the specified demographic at Catholic Charities, adapting to changing community dynamics.
Other Duties
Step in as a volunteer lead when needed for larger volunteer group projects.
Maintain a detailed log of outreach efforts, event attendance, and other relevant data, reporting regularly to the Elder Services Manager.
Attend all required Agency, Program, and Funder meetings and conferences.
Maintain agency-required timesheets.
Perform other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:

High School diploma required
Experience
Previous experience in volunteer recruitment, or related field
Special Skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Use of an agency vehicle to travel within the defined job service area.
Possession of a valid driver's license and agency-level required insurance.
Empathy and the ability to work effectively with individuals in the target demographic.
High level of motivation and independence.
Knowledge of basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office and computerized timesheets.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required.
Licensure, Registration, Certifications
Valid Washington State driver's license and required minimum liability insurance for WA State
Must be deemed insurable as determined by Catholic Charities' liability insurance provider
Employment is conditional upon:
