JOB DESCRIPTION
This job requires harvesting clams and oysters as well as assisting in general farm labor including digging, planting, packing, record keeping, cultivating/maintain beds, equipment operator and grounds maintenance. Work will be scheduled around the tides in Willapa Bay. Picking can take place during any type of weather and any time of the day or night. Some shellfish beds are reached by walking across the
mudflats while others are reached by a crew boat.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Willing to commit to the entire contract period.
- Three months of Commercial Shellfish Farm Experience
- Will be picking Oyster and digging clams can take place during any type of weather and any time of the day or night.
- Able to lift 65 lbs. repeatedly throughout the day.
- Exposure to extreme temperatures
- Extensive pushing or pulling
- Extensive sitting or walking
- Frequent stooping or bending over.
- Repetitive movements
HOURS/DAYS/SCHEDULE
Contract period: April 18, 2024 through February 14, 2025
6 hours per day Monday through Friday 5 hours on Saturday.
SALARY/WAGE/BENEFITS
$19.25 per hour. If piece rate is used it will be equal to or greater than $19.25 per hour.
The payroll period shall be Semi Monthly
- Oyster Harvest may be either paid hourly or by piece rate. If paid hourly the rate will be
$19.25 an hour. If paid by piece rate the rate will be a minimum of $00.85 per Bushel.
- Clam Harvest may be either paid hourly or by piece rate. If paid hourly the rate will be
$19.25 an hour. If paid by piece rate the rate will be a minimum of $00.80 per Pound.
- Bag Shell may be either paid hourly or by piece rate. If paid hourly the rate will be
$19.25 an hour. If paid by piece rate the rate will be a minimum of $00.70 per Bag.
- Shell Tub may be either paid hourly or by piece rate. If paid hourly the rate will be
$19.25 an hour. If paid by piece rate the rate will be a minimum of $13.00 per tub.
- The employer will furnish, without charge, all tools, supplies and personal protective equipment required in the performance of the specified work.
- Employer provided housing/kitchen facilities are available for employees who are unable to reasonably return to their place of residence the same day.
- Transportation costs to the job site for domestic workers from outside the local commuting distance of the job site will be reimbursed by the employer after 50% of the contract period. Transportation costs from the job site to the workers home will be provided to those domestic workers that complete the entire contract period.
- The amount of the reimbursement for subsistence shall be the minimum $15.46 per day up to the maximum of $59 per 24-hour travel day if receipts are provided, and to a pro-rated share of that amount based on quarters of travel days.
- Employer guarantees to offer employment for the hourly equivalent of 3/4 or 75% of the workdays of the work contract beginning with the first day of work.
