Position Summary: | Radiology Tech: The primary purpose of the Radiology Technologist is to provide the best diagnostic images possible for the Radiologists, Physicians and ER Providers. This is to be done in the most efficient manner possible, always taking care to ensure the comfort and privacy of the patient. CT Tech: The primary purpose of CT Tech position is to produce CT scans in a timely manner following departmental protocol. Assist the Radiologist with interventional procedures that require CT guidance. |
Essential Job Duties: | Radiology Tech: Positions patient under x-ray equipment, adjusts immobilization devices, uses appropriate shielding devices, and practices appropriate radiation protection procedures. May specialize in acquiring xrays and CT of specific areas of the body. Files, reports, and maintains records of service rendered. Helps maintain the care, inventory, and use of supplies and equipment throughout the Radiology Department and hospital. Participates in annual inventory and other administrative duties. Other duties as assigned. CT Tech: Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns, and extraneous radiation. Determines most suitable anatomical posture, positions, and shields patients accordingly. Practices medical and surgical aseptic procedures. Assesses, evaluates, and informs physician of changes in patient’s condition. Works under the direction of a Radiologist. Performs all quality control checks, as prescribed. Maintains accurate QC logs, service records, etc. Performs highest quality of imaging that is consistent with the prescribed examination, documents, and deviation. Understands contraindications and potential hazards of different exams. |
Qualifications: | Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and certified by the State of Washington. Graduation from an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology. Minimum of one year CT experience. (Technical staff can be cross trained.) Prior experience must be validated by a letter or telephone. Knowledge and understanding of general anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology. Possess high level of knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy. Current BLS certification. Prefer ARRT certification in CT. |
