This is a hybrid role that has occasional meetings at a variety of Legacy locations across the Portland Metro area. On days that onsite activity is not required, individuals in this role may work from remotely. 

 

All new hires are required to come to a designated Legacy Health office location in Portland, Oregon prior to their start date for a new hire health assessment and to complete new employee orientation.

As the largest nonprofit health system serving the Portland-Southwest Washington and mid-Willamette Valley areas, Legacy Health provides a range of services - we have six hospitals, one of which includes a center solely dedicated to children’s care, Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel. We run more than 70 primary care, specialty and urgent care clinics, employ nearly 3,000 doctors and providers and more than 13,000 employees. We also operate labs and a research center. Our major partnerships include those with PacificSource Health Plans and the Unity Center for Behavioral Health, a one-of-a-kind center for people facing a mental health crisis that is collaboratively operated between four regional health systems and numerous community partners.

 

Responsibilities:

The Workplace Accommodation Consultant will provide end-to-end case management for the lifecycle of accommodations to include religious, disability, pregnancy, childbirth, or a related medical condition, including lactation.   The consultant will develop and implement system processes and procedures to achieve optimal employee productivity and experience. The WAC is responsible for paving the way for a connected and trusted case management experience.

Partner with leader and employee (or applicant) in review of restrictions and the process for interactive dialogue. Maintain up-to-date case records, and adherence to internal procedures and quality standards.  Maintain strict confidentiality in verbal and written communications.

 

Provide consultation and coaching regarding accommodation matters to HR partners, managers, and employees. Assist employees in understanding their restrictions and limitations and their legal rights and responsibilities.  Facilitate escalated communication between stakeholders and employees.

 

Serve as an advocate for the accommodations process by providing on-going consultative support to stakeholders and HR partners with a focus on problem solving and creative solutions.

 

Assist Human Resources and department supervisors in identifying essential and marginal functions of employee positions.

 

Assist Human Resources and department supervisors in identifying key measures in application or interview assessments and essential and marginal functions of employee positions during onboarding.

 

Provide individual case management for accommodation needs during the pre-employment process providing applicants and candidates an inclusive experience. Conduct application, interview or job site analyses as needed during the pre-employment process.

 

Assist the leave department and department managers with return-to-work cases that are released with restrictions.

 

Research adaptive technologies and consults with experts to devise creative and effective solutions to accommodate various disabilities.

 

Assess business unit’s training needs and/or group training sessions as appropriate, serving as subject matter expert.

 

Maintain strict confidentiality in verbal and written communications.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred. 
  • Relevant experience may be substituted for educational requirements.
  • PHR or SPHR certification preferred.

 

Experience: 

  • Seven years or more of progressively responsible experience in the HR field that includes ADA/FMLA consultation along with partnership with legal teams, and evidence of strong relationship management skills. 
  • Knowledge of laws, acts and regulations governing ADAAA Accommodations.
  • Health Care experience preferred. 

 

Skills: 

  • Working knowledge of all HR functional areas, with in-depth knowledge of leave and accommodations. 
  • Strong presentation skills, ability to present data and information as a subject matter expert. 
  • Demonstrated ability to consult around solutions and partner with key stakeholders and a variety of customers. 
  • Comfortable speaking a wide variety of audiences.
