JOB DESCRIPTION
IT Manager
Technology Department
Job Summary
Functions as subject matter expert for all district technology assets. Provides engineering design, administration, and support for all IT infrastructure components, including, but not limited to: networking, servers, and telephone system. Functions as lead administrator for all district technology applications and as lead computer technician. Facilitates department workflow and functions. Supervises and evaluates computer technician.
Essential Job Functions:
- Design, implementation, administration, maintenance, and repair of all technology resources within the Quilcene School District environment.
- Maintain district LAN/WAN, to provide consistent uptime and network connectivity.
- Administration of next generation firewall/content filter, to maintain data security and provide appropriate and auditable internet connectivity to all users.
- Continuous monitoring of network and server utilization and performance, and identification of enhancements to insure continued availability of resources.
- Maintain large-scale server and storage environment, both physical and virtual.
- Perform multi-stage and off-site backups of district data, and assist to determine appropriate retention policies of such.
- Support of district-wide IP telephone system
- Provide direct support to district for network and server issues.
- Directing district computer technicians’ projects and workload, and function as the Technology Department lead computer technician.
- Facilitate the district Technology Committee.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Education & Experience:
- High school diploma required.
- Minimum of an Associate degree in Computer Information Systems, or closely related field. Bachelor degree preferred, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum seven years’ experience administering an enterprise-level network environment, utilizing Microsoft Active Directory and System Center/Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD), VMWare/Hyper-V virtualization, and Cisco networking.
- Experience working in academic/educational environment.
- Industry-standard IT certifications such as Microsoft 365 Certified, Azure Administrator Associate, Cisco CCNA (current version), CompTIA Network+, or equivalent.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
- Extensive experience with Google LMS and Clever.
- Subject Matter Expert (SME) level competency on Microsoft technologies, including but not limited to: Microsoft Server 2019/2022/2025, Windows 10/11, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Intune, Configuration Manager, Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365), SQL Server 2019/2022 or Azure SQL.
- SME level competency on virtualization technologies such as VMWare ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V, Azure Virtual Machines, or AWS EC2.
- SME level competency withnetworking technologies and network monitoring such as HP, Ubiquiti.
- Extensive experience with storage-area networks and network attached storage devices (SAN/NAS).
- Experience with Intercom systems, including hardware, software and management interface.
- Experience administering an enterprise-level Ubiquiti wireless network.
- Experience supporting SMART Interactive panels.
- Strong ability to effectively analyze and troubleshoot any and all technology related issues as they occur.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks or projects simultaneously, independently, and without direct supervision.
- Management and workflow direction of network, district and building technicians; and function as Lead technician.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate technical information to non- technical staff.
- Ability to crouch, crawl, bend, or kneel to service computers and network equipment.
- Ability to move or carry objects weighing over 50 pounds.
Licenses, Certificates & Special Requirements:
- Valid Washington State Driver's License required.
- Available during off-hours for unplanned system emergencies or equipment problems, and for occasional projects occurring outside of normal work hours (nights/weekends).
