THE ROLE:
As a Building Inspector – Plans Reviewer, you will play a critical role in providing a high level of customer service for residents and customers in regards to plans reviews. The Building Inspector – Plans Reviewer will be educating and assisting the general public with entry level plan reviews to help expedite smaller projects. Smaller projects will consist of sheds, fences, HVAC, Weatherization projects, and Accessory Dwelling Units (ADU’s). This individual will also navigate the applicant through the workflow process to ensure a positive outcome. Other duties will be assigned that may include single family residential reviews, entry level inspections, business license inspections.
The ideal candidate for this role will have 2 years of experience in both building construction and building code, interpersonal and critical thinking skills, and the ability to foster a culture based on integrity and respect. You will collaborate with building staff and permitting staff to review plans for residents of the City of Pasco. A background check is required upon acceptance of a conditional offer.
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (Any equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the job.):
· High School Diploma or GED required.
· Minimum of 2 (two) years of experience with both building construction and building code.
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office products required.
· ICC certification as Building Inspector or obtain within the probationary period.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Previous experience in local government.
· Bilingual (English/Spanish).

SAFETY/WORK CONDITIONS:
Mostly office-based work with occasional standing at a counter and handling files, including occasional interactions with sensitive and diverse groups, involving some physical movement and lifting up to 20 pounds.
On occasion when in the field:
ENVIRONMENT: Duties are performed in varying weather conditions.
PHYSICAL: Frequently ascends/descends a ladder, moves about construction sites, and operates equipment to perform building inspection duties.
HAZARDS: Physical hazards from heavy equipment, traffic, air pollution and chemicals.
